Mommy and Grandma Chiao

After a few days, Mommy and Daddy took me home! And then I got to meet Grandpa and Grandma Chiao...they came all the way from Taiwan to visit! This is me with Grandma and Mommy!

Uncle Rob!

Here is a picture of me with my Uncle Rob! He told me all kinds of make believe stories about Dad in college! Rob has three boys, Chandler, Dillon, and Ethan. I can't wait to meet Aunt Kim and my new cousins! Uncle Rob is a good dad and was able to calm me down when I got all fussy! Thanks Trixter!

Grandma & Grandpa!

When I woke up, Grandpa and Grandma were at the hospital too! It was nice to meet them, they held me and sang to me, and Grandma even promised me a real pony! Wow!

Here I Am!!

Well...Here I am!

I was born on May 24 just a few minutes before 1am! Mom and Dad and I were really tired from all the activity so we just slept for the next day or so. Kaiser had a really nice room for us, with a spare bed so dad could sleep over. My favorite nurses were Alice Lee and Elsa Joseph. They took such good care of both me and mommy too! They fed me, sang to me, and they even taught daddy how to change diapers!
Above is my first picture ever, and also my first picture with Mommy and Daddy!

We are having so much fun!

This is Yuan at 38 weeks. My wife gets more beautiful every day...just look at that smile!

Today we celebrated our first Mother's Day. For starters, Yuan, Evan and I had brunch with Grandpa Weigel and "Granny Nanny" Weigel at the Cypress Hotel in Cupertino. Yuan had fresh fruit, eggs and pacakes. Evan had tiramisu, chocolate cookies, and a brownie! After brunch Evan and Mom had a well deserved nap, before watching Montreal beat Chicago in hockey (Evan's favorite sport...)

This evening we celebrated mother's day with Uncle Ramani, and Aunt Margaret. We dined on shanghai style cuisine at HC dumpling before coming back to check out Evan's room, crib, and cute wardrobe. This kid has tons and tons of clothes! It was really nice to spend time with Ramani and Margaret!

Afterward, Yuan and I decided to take some pictures...Evan will be here soon and so much of this will only be a fond memory, so we wanted to have a few keepsakes! Over the past few weeks, Yuan's belly (uh...Evan) has grown so much! Yuan has taken all this on so well, she never complains although I can tell that things that used to seem easy (tying shoes, climbing stairs) are becomeing a challenge. Footrubs and backrubs help, so I try to do my part by providing them frequently!

I can't think of a better partner to go thru life with, and to share pregnancey and childbirth. We have enjoyed classes, food cravings, and shopping for all the kids accessories together. It's all leading up to such anticipation, and I frankly can't wait to meet this little guy! He has been entertaining us daily with acrobatics in Yuan's belly, so I figure he has lots of energy and enjoys being a ham ;)

This picture was taken at 37 weeks. Just a couple more to go now... I'm getting uncomfortable and I'm sure he is too; there's no more room for him to kick even though he's still quite active.

Brian and I are all done with our classes. Last week we spent the entire Saturday in a birthing class. Everyone says it's nice to know the techniques but it all goes out the door during the actual labor. *GULP* Brian said he will remind me, thankfully.

Our nanny Julie came by to check out the house today. She is almost as excited as I am! Evan is in very good hands.

Week 35 1/2

Time flies. Four and a half more weeks to go, that's if we go with the 5/24 due date. Otherwise, it's THREE and a half more weeks to go. *GULP* Everyone asks me if I'm ready. Logistically, yes. I feel so much more ready now that we have had the baby shower and bought everything else we were missing. Mentally... hard to say. Is anyone ever truly READY for this? What I know is that I am excited about meeting the little thing that's been kicking me for the past few months, and that I have the best partner in the world with whom to share the experience. So yes, I guess I'm ready. As ready as I'll ever be.

Speaking of baby shower... my mother-in-law Barbara and sister-in-law Laura threw me a FANTASTIC baby shower. I was surrounded by great friends and family who got some of the CUTEST outfits for the little baby, as well as several much needed items. There was a nice spread of fruits, snacks, and drinks along with fun games. Best part was definitely catching up with everyone.

Week 33

It'a amazing how fast the time flew by - less than seven weeks to go. Brian has been such an amazing partner, the kind that every woman dreams of. He really spoils me rotten with daily foot rubs and back rubs and generally being very caring and loving. And he makes me laugh by talking random stuff to the baby everyday. Yesterday, he got me a really really nice glider with an ottoman / nursing stool. This thing is very comfortable, perfect for feeding Mini Boo Boo.

This Saturday is my baby shower - thrown by my super sweet mother-in-law and sister-in-law. They are so awesome. I feel incredibly blessed to have them in my life. Mini Boo Boo are lucky too because he is going to be one spoiled baby. :)

Once the baby shower is done, we need to get the rest of the stuff from our registry fairly quickly just in case the baby shows up early. The crib is all done (thanks to my sister Candy), but lots more to get... It's incredible how much stuff you need to take care of a baby.

I'm starting to get really big now, and the belly button is disappearing. All you can see is a slit. Hard to get a good night of sleep since I have to get up to go to the bathroom every hour. On top of it, this kid is a night owl (just like his dad) and likes to re-arrange my internal organs in the middle of the night.

We have a couple of more classes to take: newborn care and birthing. Other than that, it's regular doctor visits to monitor the progress. I'm now looking into getting a photographer to take pictures of the baby, and options for Chinese confinement food delivery. More on that later...

Week 32

7 more weeks to go! Evan is extremely active, or at least, I think so since I have no previous experience with which to compare. He is constantly moving, twitching, stretching, turning, kicking, and this lasts all day long. Whenever I ask Brian to feel the baby performing acrobatic tricks, the baby will stop moving for awhile. I have to admit this has been an absolutely wonderful experience, feeling another human being - made out of half me and half Brian - growing inside. So much more than I had ever imagined. Can't wait to meet him.

The first picture was my belly at 31 weeks. The last two were taken at 29 weeks.
